Policy on 14th St - a QSN review!

Holay, The Gardener and Mr Q checked out the new Policy on 14th Street last night...we were just going for drinks before dinner but ended up spending a good part of the evening there...

First, Policy might be the slickest looking place on 14th Street...it looks FABULOUS!

We were impressed from the moment we sat down at the bar and met the friendly bartender (and part-owner) who was very enthusiastic about the new place and really wanted our feedback about what we thought...and Mr Q LOVES when he's asked for feedback on a new restaurant and/or bar!!

That enthusiasm was everywhere among the staff - from the woman who was greeting guests at the door to the guy walking around with the nifty curly-cue ear piece...everyone seemed very happy to be there and wanted their customers to enjoy their new place...

The downstairs is VERY RED...but very cool looking (these pictures don't do it justice)...really nice vibe...the bartender/owner encouraged us to check out the upstairs (he would hold our drinks and seats at the bar!!!
Like I said - Nice!!)

The upstairs is VERY different from the downstairs, but equally cool...they did a GREAT job on this place (except for the single bathrooms which bartender/owner said will be fixed soon)...

We were all very impressed...this is a great loungey place to hang with friends...and nifty graffiti art everywhere!

So after a couple of happy hour priced cocktails ($4 till 8pm! Hooray!) we decided to stay and eat dinner...

The food tasted as good as the place looked! Lamb sliders ($14) were juicy and delicious, the fries ($6) hot and crispy like fries should be...

We then went on to try the smoked fish croquettes ($13) and wild rockfish ($15) - sorry, no pictures, the $4 cocktails kicked in and the plate was empty before I remembered this was a review for QSN! But both were excellent...trust me.

So here's my only issue with Policy (and any "small plate" establishment actually)...I think for the prices being charged those small plates could have more food on them -
2 lamb sliders for $14?!!
Isn't that expensive or am I cheap? A distinct possibility by the way...

After spending $62 for food alone we were still hungry!
And although we're not dainty eaters, I don't think we're piggly-wiggly's either...
Although after we left we did head to Stoney's! Maybe I should take back that piggly-wiggly assessment...

Policy will absolutely be a HUGE hit...and deservedly so...and we will definitely be headed back there...we just won't go hungry.

Those food shots look deelish. All the photos came out really well-that place does not take a bad picture!

Had a great time, let's do it again soon!
