Saturday night eats...and a weekend update

A hectic weekend...started off with a happy hour celebration for Big D getting his MBA from G'town! Congratulations Big D! And a big THANK YOU to Red for generously picking up the tab at Zaytinya...Mr Q owes you multiple cocktails in the near future...

Finished Friday by watching the Olympic opening ceremonies at AJ's place....he hosted a grand affair that was all the buzz around town the next day!

So what did you think about those USA outfits...very Ralph Lauren huh?

And Ralph made sure you knew he was the designer by making his Polo logo (on the right) as large (larger?) than the Olympic rings on the navy blue jackets! Personally Mr Q would have liked to have seen something a little more cutting edge...maybe they could have used someone from Project Runway??? Something in leathaa!!

OK, on to Saturday night eats in abbreviated form...Mr Q did bring his camera but forgot to insert a critical component - the battery - which was sitting at home in its charger!

The Gardener, AJ and Chartreusy went to Alero on U Street for dinner...(pictures from their website - not the property of QSN!)...

To sum it up, the service was excellent, the burritos were lukewarm (although Chartreusy described his as "ice cold"...but Chartreusy does have a tendency towards melodrama, doesn't he?)...Swirls were good, but expensive at $32 a pitcher...

Overall, I'd recommend Alero if you got to Lauriol Plaza and the wait was too long there, but overall it's a Lauriol wannabe but the chips and salsa aren't as good...

Mr Q's only other bit of weekend news...according to my Netflix queue, Sex and the City - The Movie will be released on DVD in September 2008!! Three short months after its debut in the theaters...I have to question the marketing people's decision on this...I would have postponed the release until mid-November when straight guys and gay men alike are trying to figure out what to buy their significant others for the holidays...

SATC - The Movie would have been the ideal stocking stuffer! Oh well...nobody asked me! And isn't that always the problem???

Have a fab Monday.
