Saturday Night Eats - Mr Q heads to the 'burbs!

Mr Q may be the worst restaurant reviewer ever! Last week, he forgot the battery to his camera...this week he forgets to take pictures of the entrees!

The Gardener and I had dinner outside with Blondie and Lady Ashburn this past weekend at Coastal Flats in Fairfax, VA...

It is in a "town center" and the lovely porch does look out on a parking lot, but I do enjoy a meal each and every time I go there...

First, the Blue Moon beers and mojitos are excellent...the bread basket and whatever they do to their butter is even better...

If you like calamari, you have to try the Crispy Sweet & Spicy Calamari with thin beans and pepper jelly...the best!

Mr Q enjoyed the Crispy Two Noodle Shrimp Salad (salt & pepper fried shrimp with mixed greens, sesame almonds, mango, ginger vinaigrette & spicy peanut sauce)

The Gardener loved his Sesame Crusted Grilled Tuna Salad (drizzled with cilantro ginger sauce, thin beans, kalamata olives, grape tomatoes, balsamic onions & new potatoes over mixed greens with champagne vinaigrette)

Blondie always raves over the Sauteed Shrimp & Creamy Grit Cakes (with Smithfield ham, roasted corn, asparagus, peppers, sweet onion & cajun cream)...the Gardener enjoyed this as well when Blondie couldn't finish it!

Lady Ashburn (who was just coming off a bout with flu-like symptoms) gave high marks to the Coastal Shrimp Roll (crispy salt & pepper fried shrimp on a grilled roll with tartar and cocktail sauce...with fries)...the Gardener also helped with the fries!

I've always wondered about Coastal Flats. Thanks for the report --I'll have to check it out!

I, too, was at Town on Saturday!

You're welcome Shaw Rez!

I know it's a "chain", but I think the people that run Coastal Flats, Sweetwater and Carlyle Grand put out quality food and great service at a decent price...

Although I'd prefer an independent restaurant to go into the new space at 444 Mass, I'd also be more happy to see Coastal Flats go in there...they'd make a killing...
