No condos coming to Central Union Mission site...

According to the Washington Business Journal, the current Central Union Mission at the corner of 14th St NW and R Street NW, will now be office space instead of condos...

After receiving approval from D.C.'s Board of Zoning Adjustment earlier this month, Jeffrey Schonberger of D.C.-based Alturas Real Estate Interest LLC plans to redevelop the mission's former Studebaker showroom at 14th and R streets NW into a 45,000- to 50,000-square-foot office development dubbed McReynolds Place.

The city had given Schonberger approval to build a condominium and retail project, designed by RTKL Associates Inc. "But, as you know, the condo market right now stinks," Schonberger said.

I'm glad to see they still have the ground floor retail in their plans...sounds like the restoration could make this a really nice building instead of just another glassy box...

This will be a big boost to the 14th Street corridor...
